How to Use Residential Proxies with CaptchaAI When IP Matching Matters

Written by Amanda Anderson

Your CAPTCHA-solving request returns a result, but the website still will not let the browser continue.

Before submitting another request, check the connection. If the website requires verification to remain associated with the browser’s IP address, using a different connection during solving can be part of the problem.

A proxy configuration that changes IP between requests can make this harder to diagnose. The browser loads the challenge through one address, while the solving request reaches the site through another.

This guide explains how to configure SocksNode residential proxies alongside CaptchaAI, check session consistency, and test the setup before expanding it.

When Do You Need a Proxy for CAPTCHA Solving?

A customer-supplied proxy is not necessary for every CAPTCHA method.

CaptchaAI supports proxy use for certain challenges where IP consistency matters. Proxy usage is disabled by default and must be enabled through support. Its documentation also states that reCAPTCHA v3 solving with proxies is not supported. Check the requirements for your specific method first.

The example below uses reCAPTCHA v2 in a workflow you own or are authorized to test.

Why Session Consistency Matters

Consider a team checking a registration flow on its own website from a particular country.

The browser opens the page through a residential proxy. When verification appears, the application sends a solving request. If those two connections use different exit IPs, the test introduces an extra variable.

A useful starting point is to keep the connection consistent while you investigate:

  • Use one proxy session for the browser task.

  • Reuse that session’s connection details for the supported solving request.

  • Keep it active until you have checked the website’s response.

Matching the IP does not guarantee acceptance. Cookies, challenge parameters, timing, and the page’s implementation can also affect the result.

What Is SocksNode?

SocksNode provides residential proxies in 195+ countries, with usage billed per GB and bandwidth that never expires. It supports rotating and sticky sessions, so you can choose the connection setup that fits your workflow.

Step 1: Generate a Sticky SocksNode Proxy

SocksNode supports rotating and sticky residential proxy sessions. For a multi-step verification flow, choose a sticky session rather than an endpoint that changes IP with every request.

Generate your credentials in the SocksNode dashboard and retain the complete username, including its targeting and session tokens.

SocksNode’s documentation lists separate rotating and sticky ports. For example, its HTTP sticky gateway uses port 10000, and a session username can follow this pattern:

USERNAME-country-us-session-test01-lifetime-30

Use the gateway and credentials generated for your account.

Step 2: Check the Exit IP Before Testing a CAPTCHA

First, confirm that the proxy connects successfully.

Using your generated HTTP sticky credentials, an IP check can look like this:

--proxy-user 'YOUR_GENERATED_USERNAME:YOUR_PROXY_PASSWORD' \

Run the check several times with the same session credentials. If the address changes unexpectedly, resolve that before adding CAPTCHA solving.

Also check the exit IP from the browser environment. Testing with cURL alone does not prove that your browser is using the intended proxy.

These checks help separate connection problems from verification problems.

Step 3: Configure the Browser

Apply the generated proxy host, port, username, and password to your browser or automation tool.

Then open the target page and preserve that browser session while verification is handled. Avoid changing the proxy session identifier, clearing cookies, or restarting the browser halfway through the task.

For parallel tests, keep a separate record for each browser task and its proxy session. This reduces the risk of sending one task’s result to another browser.

Step 4: Include the Proxy in Your CaptchaAI Request

After support enables proxy usage, include proxy and proxytype with the parameters required by the supported CAPTCHA method.

Here is an illustrative reCAPTCHA v2 submission:

--data-urlencode 'key=YOUR_CAPTCHAAI_API_KEY' \

--data-urlencode 'method=userrecaptcha' \

--data-urlencode 'googlekey=YOUR_SITE_KEY' \

--data-urlencode 'pageurl=https://your-site.example/register' \

--data-urlencode 'proxy=YOUR_GENERATED_USERNAME:[email protected]:10000' \

--data-urlencode 'proxytype=HTTP' \

--data-urlencode 'json=1'

Replace the placeholders, keeping the proxy session identical to the browser’s configuration. Review the current Using Proxies guide before implementation.

This submits a solving task; it does not complete the website action. Retrieve the result and apply it according to the reCAPTCHA v2 integration guide.

Step 5: Confirm the Actual Outcome

Define success before running the test.

For a registration flow, success might mean reaching the confirmation page and finding the expected test record in your own system. A returned CAPTCHA solution is only an intermediate result.

If the website does not accept the action, record:

  • The browser task and solving task IDs.

  • The observed browser exit IP.

  • The proxy session identifier.

  • The error message and a screenshot.

  • Whether the intended action already completed.

Keep passwords and API keys out of logs.

Before retrying a submission, check for an existing result so the test does not create duplicate records.

Troubleshoot One Layer at a Time

If the workflow still fails, use a short diagnostic sequence.

Start with connectivity. Can the browser load the target page through the proxy?

Check continuity. Did the exit IP or proxy session change during verification?

Review the challenge details. Are the page URL, site key, and selected method correct?

Inspect result handling. Did the application apply the returned result using the procedure required by that page?

Check the final action. Was verification rejected, or did something else prevent the form from completing?

Changing several settings at once makes it difficult to identify what helped. Test one adjustment at a time and keep the successful configuration.

Get 15% Off Your First SocksNode Order

If your workflow needs a residential proxy with session control, start with one representative browser task and verify the connection before increasing volume.

CaptchaAI users can get 15% off their first SocksNode order with the code CAPTCHAAI15.

Open SocksNode through the partner link below and apply CAPTCHAAI15 when placing your first order.

For setup instructions, refer to the SocksNode documentation and CaptchaAI proxy guide.
